Yes, I did cartwheels from the front door to my laptop to write this! My very favorite niece (and my only niece, which made the choice relatively simple) is pregnant! Like me, her favorite aunt (an assumption on my part,) she was 36 when she married for the first time last September. It was a beautiful beach wedding on Hilton Head, SC, and I have to tell you, she couldn’t have picked a more wonderful guy–so worth the wait!
Cari and Brian (the happy couple over there on the right!) knew they wanted to have kids, so they didn’t waste any time. She’s due in September, right around their anniversary! Talk about a family experiencing incredible joy! She’s going to be an amazing Mom.
Around the time they got married, I got lucky and landed a copywriter job for Corner Stork, so I told her and her mom (my terrific sister-in-law, Jeannie!) that I want to host her baby shower. I’ve already started to bookmark all the baby gifts I want to buy her.
They’re going to let the baby’s gender be a surprise, because Cari’s friend suggested there are really no more great surprises in the world, so why not build the suspense? Cari and Brian agreed, so our gifts and baby shower decorations, including the baby shower favors, need to be non-gender specific. Fortunately, that’s not a problem with Corner Stork in my corner. I’ve already picked out three baby shower favors, and I may get all three (unless her guest list goes through the roof…) I love the “World’s ‘Gratest’ Mom” Stainless-Steel Cheese Grater. The photo is upper left. And I’m crazy about the “Baby on Board” Expandable Pen at the right. It’s just too cute for words!
My last baby shower favor pick is the yellow version of the pram favor boxes you see on the left. I want to fill them with Jelly Belly Jelly Beans (another favorite of mine!) Now that I’ve got the baby shower favors locked in, I’m moving on to baby gifts. My sweet niece Cari may be having morning sickness, but I’m having a ball!
Congratulations, Cari and Brian!
Love, AS
