It’s hard to trust what’s really going into the food you’re feeding your baby. Sure, baby food brands list their ingredients, but do you really know where those ingredients are from?
If you’d rather have full control over what your baby eats, you can always make your own baby food. Even cooking noobs can make these easy baby foods from scratch. For best results, invest in a good food processor so your baby gets the smoothest meals.
1. Pureed Carrots
Steam a pile of peeled carrots in a steamer on the stove for 20 to 30 minutes. Once they’re tender enough for a fork to poke through, add a bit of fresh water and blend in the food processor.
2. Mashed Bananas
It’s as easy as it sounds. Just peel a banana and mash the fruit with a fork. Done!
3. Sweet Potato Puree
Sweet potatoes are jam-packed with protein and are a great substitute for carrots or regular potatoes. Dice up a peeled sweet potato and put it in a pot of water. Boil it for about 15 minutes, then blend it with some water.
4. Pureed Peas
Steam a bag of frozen peas according to the directions on the bag, then add a small amount of water and blend it in the food processor. You could always add more water if it’s too thick.
5. Apple Pear Butter
This is a lot easier than it sounds. Just peel and cube one pear and one Gala apple. Steam both in a stovetop steamer and blend them in a food processor with a pinch of cinnamon.
